What is the NIBCO Fig No T-113, and what is it used for?

The NIBCO Fig No T-113 is a 1-inch bronze gate valve featuring a non-rising stem and threaded connections. This valve is primarily used in plumbing and irrigation systems to control the flow of liquids. Its design allows for a tight seal, minimizing leaks and ensuring smooth operation. Ideal for scenarios where space is limited, the non-rising stem design is particularly useful in buried or wall-mounted applications, making this valve versatile for various installations.

How does a non-rising stem gate valve function?

A non-rising stem gate valve operates by lifting or lowering a gate to allow or restrict flow. Unlike rising stem valves, the stem does not protrude from the valve body when opened, which is advantageous in confined spaces. This valve's design ensures that the flow is either completely on or off, enhancing reliability and reducing turbulence. Applications include residential plumbing, water supply lines, and industrial systems where space and efficient flow control are essential.

What materials are used in the construction of the NIBCO Fig No T-113?

The NIBCO Fig No T-113 is made from high-quality bronze, which provides excellent resistance to corrosion and wear. This material is ideal for a variety of applications, particularly in water and gas systems, where durability is crucial. Bronze also helps in preventing impurities from leaching into the fluid, making it a preferred choice in potable water applications. Its robust construction can withstand high pressure, ensuring it performs efficiently over time.

What are the thread specifications for the NIBCO Fig No T-113?

The NIBCO Fig No T-113 features standard threaded connections that facilitate easy installation with other plumbing components. This threading is designed to meet common plumbing standards, ensuring compatibility with various fitting sizes. When installing, ensuring proper thread engagement is vital for preventing leaks. This valve can be easily integrated into existing plumbing systems, making it a practical choice for both new installations and repairs.

Can the NIBCO Fig No T-113 be used with gas lines?

Yes, the NIBCO Fig No T-113 is suitable for use in certain gas lines, thanks to its durable bronze construction. However, it is essential to ensure that the valve is compatible with the specific type of gas being used, as different gases can have varying corrosive properties. Always consult with local codes and standards before installation to ensure compliance and safety. This valve is often favored in residential and commercial settings for its reliability in controlling gas flow.

What size pipe does the NIBCO Fig No T-113 fit?

The NIBCO Fig No T-113 is designed to fit 1-inch nominal-sized pipes. This measurement refers to the pipe's inner diameter, and the valve’s threaded design allows for easy connection to pipes and fittings of the same size. Utilizing this valve in plumbing systems ensures optimal flow control. It's commonly used in residential plumbing systems, irrigation applications, and industrial setups where a reliable seal and sturdy construction are required.

Is the NIBCO Fig No T-113 suitable for hot water applications?

Yes, the NIBCO Fig No T-113 can handle hot water applications due to its bronze material which maintains integrity at elevated temperatures. This valve is designed to withstand thermal expansion and pressure changes associated with hot water systems. It’s often used in hydronic heating, boiler systems, and other scenarios where hot water needs to be controlled effectively. Ensuring proper installation and maintenance can significantly enhance performance and longevity in such applications.

How do I maintain the NIBCO Fig No T-113 gate valve?

To maintain the NIBCO Fig No T-113 gate valve, regular inspection for leaks and proper operation is key. Ensuring that the valve stem is lubricated can prevent rust and corrosion, prolonging its lifespan. Additionally, periodic opening and closing of the valve help keep the gate clean and free from debris. This proactive maintenance minimizes performance issues and ensures reliability. Regular checks are crucial, especially in systems where flow control is critical.

What are the benefits of using a bronze gate valve?

Using a bronze gate valve, like the NIBCO Fig No T-113, offers several advantages, including excellent corrosion resistance, durability, and reliability. Bronze is non-toxic, making it ideal for potable water applications. Its design allows for a full flow, meaning minimal pressure drop during use. Additionally, the robust construction of bronze valves ensures they can withstand high pressures, making them suitable for various applications, from residential plumbing to industrial processes.
