BARTOLINI Pickups & Pickup Covers Bar-7722 Editorial Review

The Bartolini 57J1L/S 5-string J-bass pickups have garnered a mix of responses from guitarists, reflecting their distinctive sonic characteristics and suitability for various bass setups. Many users noted that these pickups excel in creating a deep, full sound, especially when paired with a preamp like the Audere. Compliments were frequently given for their ability to produce a rich tone with nice burpy sounds from the bridge pickup and effective slap tones when both pickups are engaged. However, there are important Considerations for potential buyers. A common theme in the feedback was their underperformance with passive basses due to a darker tone and very low output, which can lead to volume disparity, particularly noted with the A string for some users. For those seeking to enhance a bass's tonal quality and who are willing to navigate the somewhat complex installation involving soldering, these pickups can transform an entry-level instrument into an impressive contender. One user even mentioned that their Squier with the Bartolini pickups outperformed a more expensive Fender model, indicating that these pickups can provide significant value. In summary, the Bartolini 57J1L/S pickups are praised for their tonal richness and depth, especially in active setups, while cautioning that they might not be ideal for passive basses without additional amplification. **
