Beneath a Scarlet Sky is a beautiful book about Pino Lella, a seventeen-year-old living in Milan during World War II. Pino gets involved in helping Father Re smuggle Jews out of Italy and becomes a driver for General Leyers. The author, Mark Sullivan, describes the historic times in a way that makes the reader feel a part of the story. The characters are well developed and the book is written in the third person point of view. If you enjoy reading historic fiction or nonfiction about World War II, you will enjoy this book.
